My love of photography began with my grandparents, whose photos captured the essence of meaningful living, profoundly experienced. My grandfather was behind the lens, my grandmother always in front of it. He was a garmento by trade, a champion fisherman, a man who carried a camera everywhere. He photographed the war, and then her—everywhere they went. She was his muse.
Like my grandfather, I continued capturing her, and then my wife and our children.

When I began organizing my own archive, it didn’t feel right to leave them out—the people who inspired it all. These photographs are personal, but they’re also the heart of everything.
This is a family album first, and the foundation for everything that followed.
